LESS Crime Act Tax Credit
In 2023, legislation was enacted to allow Georgia taxpayers to claim tax credit for supporting local public safety efforts by contributing to Qualified Law Enforcement Foundations (QLEFs). Thanks to the Law Enforcement Strategic Support Act, also known as the “LESS Crime Act”, individuals and businesses can make a donation to the Marietta Police Foundation and receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit. Register for the program now by following the steps below in time for your annual filing.
Tax Credit Limits
Single individual or head of household: $5,000
Married couple filing jointly: $10,000
Limited liability company (LLC), or shareholder of a Subchapter (S) corporation or partner in a partnership: $10,000
Corporations: up to 75% of their state income tax liability

Step 1
SET UP ACCOUNT AT GEORGIA TAX CENTER WEBSITE
Your first step will be setting up an account with the Georgia Tax Center using the link below. If you have an account already, you can skip this step and login with your credentials at Step 2.

Step 2
APPLY FOR PRE-APPROVAL
To obtain pre-approval, use link below. Once you have submitted your application, the Georgia Department of Revenue will process it and, within a period of 30 days, will send you an official approval letter confirming your pre-approval status.

DONATE TO THE MARIETTA POLICE FOUNDATION
Make a donation on the official Marietta Police Foundation to help support the Marietta Police Department. Your contributions play a vital role in assisting officers during times of hardship and in strengthening our community ties.

RECEIVE TAX CREDIT LETTER
Once your application is processed, you will receive an important tax credit letter from the Georgia Department of Revenue. It is essential that you save this letter in a secure location so you can easily access it when it comes time to file your taxes.

FILE TAX LETTER WITH TAX RETURN
